Some bullshit about my upgraded headlights drawing too much power so they had to do a thing...it sounds like mechanic-speak for “we fucked around with it until we got it to work, but who knows? See ya next month!
Disclaimer: My shop is owned by a lovely husband and wife who couldn’t be nicer. They rescue and foster labs. The shop is spotless and has free candy. The good kind. They take great care of my cars.

So you won’t be needing blinker fluid either?
In all seriousness it could be due to the headlights, depending on how much Toyota over-
engineered
the wiring it may be near the maximum
the gauge is capable of handling without getting too warm.

Hmm, either they figured out how to draw less from elsewhere in the system (hopefully without compromising anything) or they installed a higher-output alternator! Great to hear the ‘Chaser is back in action!

Such is the life of old car ownership. From the peak of ecstasy to the pit of despair and back again. I’m thinking they put a relay in the circuit but they might have done something more sophisticated given the special car they were working on .
